Hop on in to this week's Northampton Property Blog Post, where we discuss the Egg-cellent and Egg-centric information brought to us by DataLoft. Chick it out.

It might seem a bit silly, but it's no yolk. The information provided can actually tell us a lot about consumer habits during the season, and how that can reflect the current property market. Additionally, we'll follow up from last week's post and discuss how hiring an expert Letting Agent can help support you during this egg-citing time.

UK consumers are projected to shell out £2.3 billion on Easter goodies, with over 40% of shoppers egg-specting to spend more than last year. That’s the eggquivelent of 8,565 average priced homes at £268,548.

Information from DataLoft states the following:

  • UK consumers are projected to shell out £2.3 billion on Easter goodies, with over 40% of shoppers egg-specting to spend more than last year. That’s the eggquivelent of 8,565 average priced homes at £268,548.

  • Shoppers planned to spend an average of £124.75 this easter, which is £12.35 more than last year on average.

What this reveals - likely not to the surprise of many - is that Easter is a particularly expensive period. This expensive period, combined with the multiple bank holidays within April & May, can mean that people can struggle to move and afford new accommodation. So the market moves a lot slower than the busier February-March period.

So, if you have a property on the market for Sale or for Let and find it struggling during this period, this can be one of the factors involved.

Of course, there's many other factors involved as well. Expert agents are able to take into consideration the ebbs and flows of the property market when making valuations and when marketing the property. From current condition, to location, to time of the year, to more abstract factors like a sense of community; factors which we covered in the Northampton Property Blog post- Northampton Renters Rent Longer in Area with Strong Community.

So don't start panicking if things aren't going exactly the way that you anticipated. It might be time to consider discussing your options with a professional agent to see how they could improve your chances at finding someone. If you're still struggling to Let a property, some agents offer services that can help, like Northwood Northampton's Guaranteed Rent, which can help ensure you receive income, even when your property is vacant.
