Plans for new flats have been approved for Northampton town centre, along The Drapery, above KFC and Taco Bell. What does this mean for Northampton?
For landlords, this is an exciting opportunity for a new property. Just last year, new student accommodation was completed right next to these new developments, allowing for over 201 new flats for students.
For Northampton University and local businesses, this is fantastic for growth. A short trip through the main sights of Northampton before reaching the university means a lot more footfall for Northampton Business.
Likewise, students will be looking for further nearby accommodation, allowing for other nearby flats to offer great opportunities to this demographic.
For professionals, despite its lack of parking, it will make up for it with great connections to the bus station and train station. Various flats in that area have already been rented for solid prices - check out our market report to see nearby properties.

It's no secret that this does bring some concerns for residents, however. The overcrowding of temporary students and short-term property has left The Drapery feeling somewhat messy and unkempt.
The council have proven themselves to be passionate about Northamton's image, however, with the recent revitalisation of Fish Street and the market square. Fingers crossed that they can do the same for the Drapery and continue financial and commercial growth for Northampton, whilst keeping it a great place for people to live.
